Job Description:

  • Familiar with DNS administration using the BIND DNS server in Linux environments

  • DNS device configuration, management and operations in an enterprise environment

  • Linux, PowerDNS, BIND configuration, zone transfer, data import/export and/or understanding

  • Windows DNS and Active Directory (conditional forwarding, etc) knowledge/administration to support

  • Windows team for DNS

  • SSH and Windows Remote Desktop Connection usage

  • DNS name resolution Moves, Adds, Changes and Deletions (MACD)

  • DNSSEC support for Moves, Adds, Changes and Deletions (MACD)

  • Updating of DNS ISP infrastructure through zone transfers

  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other DNS team documentation

  • Provide DNS engineering support to DNS Architect and DNS team

  • Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting hardware and software for DNS problems

  • Update and/or monitor Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) as applicable and other equipment proactively

  • Requires the ability to work up to an in-depth understanding of the overall network infrastructure and the ability to provide remote troubleshooting and resolution.

  • Have knowledge of networking (e.g., OSPF, IP, BGP etc) is a plus


Skills



  • Familiar with DNS administration using the BIND DNS server in Unix and Linux environments

  • Able to perform analysis of DNS resolution issues and provide recommendations to repair

  • Able to follow change control procedures to plan/test/implement infrastructure changes

  • Able to produce detailed documentation

  • Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and C&A reporting

  • Proficient with Linux systems administration and optimization (Red Hat & CentOS 6/7) (Solaris administration a plus)

  • Familiar with Linux virtual environments (KVM/QEMU)

  • Familiar with operating in a fully disconnected environment specifically when dealing with RPM repositories.

  • Capable of debugging scripts (Bash, Perl, Python)

  • Experience with TCP/IP and the 7 OSI layers

  • Understanding of network protocols (primarily BGP)

  • Familiar with Cisco IOS administration (VRF knowledge a plus)

  • Knowledge of IETF processes and protocol development a plus


Work Experience



  • Experience with running DNS for complex enterprise environments

  • Experience with DNS for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

  • Experience with both SBU and classified network environments

  • Experience with DNS Simple Failover a plus

  • Have experience working within a Systems Engineering oriented environment that can effect tens of thousands of users is a plus

  • Planning, recommending, and performing changes

  • Experience showing you are a methodological problem solver

  • Assist team in planning/developing objectives and goals

  • Support team objectives and conforming to the client’s operating practices

  • Years Of Experience And Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Advanced degree is preferred
