Job Description:

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a private, non-denominational, international development agency established in 1967. It seeks sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy, and ill-health with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous and other resource poor regions, primarily in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Its main areas of focus are education, health, rural development, environment and strengthening civil society.

The Aga Khan Foundation (Pakistan) [AKF(P)] is seeking applications from high caliber Consultant for the following assignment;

Short Term Consultants for Community-Based Complaints Mechanism

Project Background and Objectives:

The Aga Khan Foundation, Pakistan (AKF) is conducting community-based consultations to gauge insights and response towards its programme impact and feedback mechanisms and how these insights and findings can be incorporated into formation of an organization’s specific comprehensive framework for Safeguarding and Community Based Complaints/feedback Mechanism (CBCM).

Overall scope of Work:

1.       Assessing community awareness/knowledge of ongoing AKF programmes and interventions in their region.

2.       Understanding community attitudes towards AKF programmes, work standards and their rights as beneficiaries.

3.       Explore community knowledge about CBCMs and analyze the gathered data.

4.       Identifying potential areas for improvement regarding communication and outreach strategies.

Details of the qualitative information.

The short-term consultant will be responsible for conducting community consultations, which will involve the following tasks:

A.     Preparatory Phase:

i.  Familiarize themselves with the consultation’s goals and objectives.

ii. Familiarize themselves with the consultation's discussion points and provide feedback, if any, for refinement.

iii. Note-taking and report writing.

B.      Information Collection:

 i.Conduct in-person focus group discussions/meetings with the members of the community, in the selected programme areas.

ii. Ensure unbiased and random selection of community members for the discussions.

 iii. Administer the discussion/meeting in a consistent and standardized manner.

iv. Record and document the deliberations accurately.

v.Refer any questions or concerns from community members to the relevant staff.

C.     Reporting:

i. Prepare and submit reports. 

ii. Generate insights and observations.

iii. Prepare a comprehensive final report summarizing the consultation's findings.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in anthropology, statistics, data science, economics, development studies or any other relevant field   
  • At least 06 months of experience in conducting qualitative study or related field and research experience. Preference will be given to the consultants having prior work experience with AKDN agencies.
  • Experience in qualitative research methods and analysis.
  • Proficiency in English is required and knowledge of Local language(s) of GB and Chitral is preferred.
  • Availability to work full-time for the entire duration of the assignment.
  • Ability to travel and work independently in the field.
  • Ethical and responsible conduct during the community consultations.
  • Familiarity with cultural, religious, and social norms of the region

Timeline:

The assignment is expected to last one (1) month.

Reporting:

The consultant will be based in GB and Chitral and report to safeguarding lead in AKF, Pakistan.
